Hi all - first timer, looking for some help on the artistic side of things.
Small, fixed-scope, fully specified job. A bone-and-slot spec is written and
ready to send — you'd know exactly what you're building before you quote.
WHAT IT IS
A youth baseball/softball batter, side view, flat silhouette-style shapes with
light interior fold detail. Helmet, wooden bat, cleats. No photographic texture,
no rendered shading. Needs to read clearly as an athletic ball player from
across a room, on a dark background.
THE UNUSUAL PART — PLEASE READ
I do not want any animations. Not one.
The app drives the bones itself, frame by frame, from body-tracking data
captured on device. The pose is computed by modifying the bone hierarchy
directly; AnimationState is never used. The deliverable is the rig and the
artwork, with nothing on the Animations timeline.
So what matters here is mesh topology and weight painting. Bones get rotated to
angles you will never have posed by hand, and the mesh has to hold up there. A
rig that only looks right inside its own authored animation won't work.
SCOPE
- 23 bones, exact names supplied. Includes a spine chain, neck, clavicles, and
two bat bones. Bones can't be added at runtime, so the list is fixed before
you start.
- Meshed and weighted limbs and torso
- 10 slots, one per body region — the app tints regions independently, so the
body can't be merged into a single mesh under a single slot
- Two skins on one skeleton: a plain flat version and a detailed version. Same
shapes, the detail is the difference.
- Two handedness variants. The camera always films from the batter's open/chest
side, so left-handed is a true mirror rather than a second view — I expect a
mirror, but tell me if you disagree and why.
- One revision round included
REQUIREMENTS
- Spine Professional. Essential can't save or export projects containing meshes
or weights, so it can't produce this.
- Export from 4.3.x (I'm on 4.3.23)
- Experience rigging for runtime bone manipulation is a strong plus
DELIVERABLES
- The .spine source project — required, not just the export
- Exported JSON + atlas, both handedness variants
- Work-for-hire / full IP assignment (this ships in a commercial product)
BUDGET & TIMELINE
Paid, fixed price. I'd rather hear what the job is worth to you than name a
number first — quote against the spec and I'll be straight with you about
whether it works. Timeline is flexible; I'd rather wait for the right person
than rush it.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
KidSwing (kidswing.app) — an iOS app that films a kid's swing and shows them
their own mechanics. Built solo. This figure is what the player and parent
actually look at after every swing, so it matters.

One specific ask: a rendered animation reel shows animation skill, but it
doesn't show rigging quality. If you have anything that shows the rig itself —
a screen recording of bones being dragged in the editor, a weights view,
anything showing how the mesh behaves under manipulation — that's what I'm
actually hiring for.
