Flipping An Animation Around

Hi Esoteric Team,

Is it possible to quickly flip an animation around? In the dopesheet you have the option to play an animation in reverse. Is there functionality built into the editor to flip all of the keyframes in the reverse order for quick reversal of animations?

IE, duplicate animation, flip key frames, no need to manually move every keyframe in the reverse order spending up to a half hour reversing an animation.

Hi Tim!

There is a way to quickly reverse an animation:

Press the spacebar so all the keys are visible
Box select the first row so all the keys are selected (remember to hold the selection till the end of the border animation or the box disappears)
Hover on the left side of the box, then resize it till goes past the lenght of the animation, to double the animation lenght
Move all the keys so that they start back at 0
If there are curves those have to be manually readjusted

Hello Tim,

I followed your tutorial and I think I did all the steps correctly. The problem is when I move the keys in the reverse direction, the flip effect seems to work, but all my elements are like deformed during the animation launch. Does anyone have an explanation for me?

Hello, could you post a gif of what is happening and maybe a screenshot?

Please keep in mind that curves cannot be reversed.

Curves are reversed when using box select to "flip over" the keys.

I showed the graph, but I did the "flipping over" in the dopesheet (you can use either the graph or the dopesheet).
