• Editor
  • License for runtimes

Hi, looking to get clarification on the usage of the runtimes.

I hired an artist to create animations for me. He used Spine2D to create them and delivered PNG and JSON files. I originally imported them into Unreal Engine, however I'm looking at integrating them into a Javascript engine instead (using MelonJS).

1 - Do I need a license to build a game using Unreal Engine that imports the Spine2D animations using the runtime?

2 - Do I need a license to build a game using MelonJS (or just pure javascript) that imports the Spine2D animations using the runtime?

3 - If I build support for the runtime into MelonJS can that be included in their open source library distribution so others can use it?

Thanks,
Shaun

All three scenarios can be answered the same way: if you include any of our Spine Runtimes code in your app or game, you are required to have a valid Spine Editor license. Spine Essential suffices if your annual revenue is below $500,000USD.
