"Unable to start Spine"
Hello.
I've installed Spine on a work computer and I get this error message:
"Sorry, Spine is unable to start.
Other software has interfered with Spine's operation.
Please disable any antivirus or other software that manipulates Spine."
I contacted my tech manager and he tried to follow the guidelines posted here to no avail:
Other software has interfered with Spine's operation
He went further and disabled the antivirus which made Spine launch, but he can't leave it this way.
So he asked me to ask what exactly we need to approve or exclude in the anti-virus in order for Spine to launch when the anti-virus is on.
The anti-virus we have is "Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools" and of course the regular Windows Security.
Thanks in advance !!
Please follow the instructions at this page for details about what you need to allow in your antivirus settings:
Spine Troubleshooting: Antivirus and anti malware
Scrolling to the end of the thread you linked also includes precise instructions specifically for Bitdefender.
We followed the instructions in that post and the problem still occurs..
Furthermore, these instructions are for Bitdefender Total Security - which is a bit different than the one we use.
Any other ideas?
Sorry you are still having trouble. You may want to ask Bit Defender how to safelist Spine. It's possible it could be other software on your computer. For a test you could try disabling Bit Defender just to know it is the culprit. However, some similar software (eg Comodo Firewall) continues to interfere with Spine even when disabled! For that it has to be uninstalled to get it to stop.
We did test it and it is the anti-virus because when we disabled it, Spine launched regularly.
So the problem is with the "Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools"..
That's helpful to know at least. It should be possibly to tell Bit Defender not to interfere with Spine. If it isn't, then I suppose I'd have to consider using less invasive monitoring software.
FWIW, here's what the SentinelOne settings look like:
Unable to open Spine trial on Windows 10
Our tech guy managed to work it out somehow, making an exception via the bitdefender hash for the program or something along these lines.
Thanks again for trying to help
