Is this Java viewer the only one available? The problem with it is it uses Java which makes it confusing to install for our artists. Its an odd decision to even package it this way when your regular editor doesnt require a JRE install.
The main reason we need this viewer is for artists to verify the spine exports before they hand them off to engineers. It'd be nice if this viewer/verification was either included with the editor, or the problems only seen in exports were fixed.
I guess you are talking about our Skeleton Viewer? It is included in the editor, instructions here:
Skeleton Viewer: Run from Spine
Note that Skeleton Viewer is provided as an example of a simple runtime tool. Large projects are encouraged to extend it or build their own runtime tools for their application specific needs.
Regarding Java, you don't need it for the Skeleton Viewer but if you do ever need it for other things, there is no reason to "install" Java. It can simply be downloaded as a ZIP file, unzipped, and run from there. Java installers have always been terrible, but they aren't needed.
