Making the same animation from start to finish in multiple tools is the best way to evaluate the workflows of each tool. However, timing the process means little as that is mostly measuring the skill of the animator. Another thing to note is Spine's output can be put directly into an app or game and controlled dynamically, while AE's output is mostly only useful for video.
