Supports some stuff, doesn't support other stuff. Don't have best of both worlds unfortunately as there are features in Spine that unity animation will likely never support.
I am probably going to take a pass at implementing blend trees for the unity runtime properly at some point, but it won't be based on Mecanim until Unity 5 comes out with its logic based Mecanim support.
