  • Spine 3.0.00 doesn't run [solved]

I tried update Spine version 3.0.00 without success 🙁 . After not having problems with version 2.1.27.

The log file isn't created. I have run in admin mode:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Spine>java -jar launcher\launcher-full.jar

With the following exception  :

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/esotericsoftware/spine/editor/launcher/e
at com.esotericsoftware.spine.editor.launcher.Launcher.main(SourceFile:1471)
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.esotericsoftware.spine.editor.launcher.e

at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)

I would appreciate your support.
Cheers

Sorry you are having trouble. What happens when you run via Spine.com? Please post the full logs (the forum will automatically redact your private information).

The problem was after install to v3.0.00, running from the shortcut application never shown by checking the task manager appears for a few seconds and then disappears. Therefore run the command in the previous post.

Neither Spine log or folder exist in the path: Windows: <user home folder>\Spine\ spine.log

Neither the trial version running on my pc.

What happens when you run via Spine.com?

Sorry, I do not understand exactly what to do.

Thanks again.

In the Spine installation directory there is a file named Spine.com. It runs Spine with a console window that shows the log output. This is better because it uses Spine's bundled version of Java rather than whatever one you happen to have installed, but also I'd like to see the entire log output, not just a portion of the exception. From the behavior you get when you run the shortcut, it sounds like you'll get the same exception but it's worth a try. The exception itself is a bit odd because the line numbers don't match up to code that should have such a problem.

Hi
It seem I have a similar problem here. When i run Spine.com the console just blink for a split second. It prints nothing and disappears.

Yeah me too, Nate contacted me by email and asked me to run spine.com in CMD, same thing happened. Can you try this as well?

It seems the executable fails to run for a few of you guys, which is very strange. 🙁 Do any entries appear in the Windows Event Log?

Can someone with this problem try deleting msvcr100.dll from the Spine install directory, then run Spine? If that fails then install this, then run Spine?

I will try this when I get home today and check the event log. I have no idea if this is even related to the problem but I am using bitdefender, If others with the same problem see this, can you please tell if you are using bitdefender or not?

Hi
I'm also using Bit Defender. When reinstalled the message was show:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Spine\launcher\launcher-full.jar=>com/esotericsoftware/spine/editor/launcher/e.class Exploit.Java.Agent.AF
Deleted

I turned off the Bit Defender and reinstalled spine one more time - it didn't help 🙁

This also didn't help 🙁 Nothing changed.

If you are running software that is deleting Spine's files, there isn't much Spine can do about it. 🙂

Seems like it should have worked once you installed without Bit Defender. Can someone else with the same problem try?

I checked if there still is launcher-full.jar file to make sure it wasn't deleted some other way. it's still there after reinstalation without bit deffender

It's deleting the com\esotericsoftware\spine\editor\launcher\e.class file out of launcher-full.jar (which is a zip file). IMO that is a pretty crazy thing for any anti virus to do, especially when Spine certainly does not have a virus.

Well, this fixed it for me, now I am running ver 3.0! Here is what I did:
-Uninstalled Spine.
-Made a empty folder called Spine and added that to the bitdefender exclusions list.
-Installed Spine, but did not run it.
-Deleted the dll you mentioned.
-Ran Spine, it asked for my activation code.
-It downloaded some update and now it is working without a hitch!

Maybe another person can try this exact steps and see what happens?

Can you try putting the DLL back? I bet it continues to work.

Bitdefender has influence.

In my case I just did next:

I disabled On-access scanning and Active Threat Control before install.
I added to Exclusions Spine folder.
Enabled settings on BitDefender again.

Now works!! 🙂

I noticed that whenever I run spine download version 3.0.00 but if I disconnect and run again just tells me: "Sorry, the server Could not be Contacted Please check your Internet connection and any firewall ...."

Apparently I need a permanent connection 🙁

Regards

Yep! I restored the dll back and it is working, so probably something is going on with bitdefender. I have had some problems with some games when it comes to BD too, maybe it is time to move to a new anti-virus software 😃

Great! Good to know why it was happening. Bit Defender is obviously evil. Anti virus software really isn't needed anyway, unless you like to download files from untrusted sources and run them. Even then an anti virus may not protect you. Better to use Sandboxie to run files you don't trust. That is 100% safe.

Spine should only need an internet connection to download an update, after that it should work without downloading. If you have "Latest" selected it will still do an update check, but it will start Spine if the check fails because you aren't connected to the internet. Can you post your spine.log after it downloads when it shouldn't?

Thanks Nate.

I have attached the logs because it erases the previous when it is not connected to the server.

1_spine.log: When executed after installing and internet.
2_spine.log: No internet.
3_spine.log: With Internet again.

In the process no files were deleted, only the logs were backed up.

Just a comment:

I uploaded the installer to VirusTotal and although the test passed with BitDefender, in others the result was: Exploit.Java.Agent.AF

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/1556bd839bd2be43e50b7a459df953a3ab26a179872971997b6a788dcf0e18c2/analysis/1452696894/

Probably some new implementation causes this false positive.

Anti virus software uses hueristics, which is a fancy way of saying it is trying to guess at what is a virus. Sometimes they get it wrong which causes a lot of problems. IMHO an anti virus is a waste of time since you should never be running untrusted software.

Thanks, the logs were helpful. We'll look into why it is downloading every time. It's not because of your internet, I bet it will download every time even when you are connected.
