• Bugs
  • Unable to start Spine

Hi,

I'm working in a large Spine project on Mac. I was trying to enable filtering, but Spine hung on the operation, so I right-click Quit the program. On trying to restart Spine, it just hangs on the start-up loading screen and never opens. I assume it's trying to (possibly) read a recovery file, but I don't see any Spine related files in /Library/Caches or home/Library/Caches to clear out. Is there anything I can do to fix it? I've attached the log file, but it says it started.

Thanks for your help!
Megan

Sorry you are having trouble. You can reset your Spine settings by deleting:

~/Library/Application Support/Spine/prefs.json

Hopefully that allows Spine to run again for you. Also, you can reset recent files by deleting recent.json and your view layout by deleting views.json. You may want to backup those files first.

The filtering settings shouldn't cause such a problem. Enabling multisample anti-aliasing (MSAA) might, since that is done when Spine is started. It's supposed to fallback to no MSAA if it isn't available, but we're at the mercy of the graphics card/driver.

Another potential problem is that some OS X software seems to interfere with Spine. We've not been able to figure out exactly what is going on, despite working with some of the authors of the conflicting software. Antivirus, Finder "enhancements", or other similar software may cause Spine to hang on start up. For example, Default Folder X causes Spine to hang and Rescue Time needs to be closed when Spine is started. Display Link, Duet Display, Twomon, and other display link programs may crash Spine when maximized.

We recently released 3.6.52. To see if that is causing your problem, you can create a text file here:

~/Library/Application Support/Spine/version.txt

Inside the text file, put the version of Spine you want to load, eg 3.6.51. The next time you start Spine, it will use that version.

I´m still not able to open Spine 3.6.52 with RecueTime Open. I did try Tmetric and no issue, but I prefer RescueTime.
