Godot Engine Runtime?
Has anyone looked at adding runtime support for Spine in the (open source) Godot engine? Http://www.godotengine.org
I'm switching to Godot from GameMaker and, so far, I much prefer it. Godot has its own built in animation system, but it's no Spine. I miss being able to use Spine in my current project.
Engines everywhere!
I think your best option would be to post on the godot forum. Maybe one of the generic runtimes can be used as a base for a godot renderer.
It is not runtime, rather importer for Godot engine: https://github.com/jjay/godot-spine-importer
A dedicated Godot Runtime might be worth investigating. Would probably be mostly C/C++ though, with a thin wrapper in Godot script.
I'm interested in Godot, and one of the turn-offs for me is that there is no Spine runtime. Is this the stick by which I measure all game frameworks now?
Thanks Nate, not sure how I missed that, I was even digging around looking for it. I'm looking forward to this!
Hi, I buy Spine because the integration to godot made by jjay in this module: https://github.com/jjay/godot-spine-module ,thanks so much for that. Please made that oficial and support to future, I´m work in godot 2 and probably don´t actualize to 3 in current project. I can say that the integration is good and for now 0 problems (in editor and export). Please considerate to include that in the runtimes oferted.
We'll start work on a Godot integration very soon. However, we'll focus our efforts on Godot 3. I guess for Godot 2, the integration you linked to should suffice for now.
Great! Looking forward for working in Godot and using Spine for animations. Good to know that Godot it supported.
